Marine Acoustics and Bioacoustics
The Centre for Marine Science and Technology marine acoustics program involves projects and applications at both high frequencies, commonly above 20 kHz and low frequencies, down to as low as 1 Hz, but commonly in the low audio range. Work at higher frequencies is directed to biomass and sea boundary detection and assessment, and to short range position fixing. Lower frequency projects are focussed on bioacoustics and propagation studies in deep and shallow waters.
