Seakeeper motions software

CMST staff developed a 3 degree of freedom strip theory code to calculate pitch, heave and roll motion of ships in deep water.

It uses conformal mapping techniques to obtain sectional hydrodynamic cofficients and strip theory to calculate the global vessel added mass, damping and cross-coupling terms. The coupled heave and pitch equations are solved to obtain the vertical plane RAOs. Roll motion is calculated separately. The code works for both monohulls and catamarans. The software has been further developed and commercialised by Formation Design Systems Pty Ltd.
