Seakeeping trials

CMST has undertaken a series of ship motion trials on the Australian Institute of Marine Science vessel “Solander”, in order to assess its seakeeping characteristics. The trials were done adjacent to wave buoys off Rottnest Island and North-West Cape in Western Australia. Measured ship motions were combined with measured wave data to calculate transfer functions and resonant motion periods. Subsequently, modifications have been made to the hull to increase the roll damping and improve the seakeeping behaviour.
